Tallis for a Starr wedding

Last weekend was amazing!  We were in New York city for my brother Mike's wedding.  He married the love of his life, Jeannine.  Truth be told, they've been married before and just couldn't stay away so after a number of years, they re-married!

Everything was fabulous.  Cocktail party, carriage ride in Central Park, swanky wedding, brunch on Sunday.  Not to mention the wonderful family time as both our families reconnected after many years.

Prior to the wedding, Mike asked me to crochet him a tallis for the wedding.  A tallis (also known as tallit) is the shawl used for bar mitzvah's.  My understanding is that it is traditional to wrap the bride and groom in the groom's tallit during the ceremony.  Mike wanted to add that to the wedding.  Even though he isn't Jewish, Jeannine comes from a Jewish background and he wanted to do something to honor that.

Needless to say, I was so honored and crocheted the best tallit I could do in their wedding colors.  Crochet tends to be more "blankety" so I was unsure how it would go over but they loved it.  They were wrapped in it for the ceremony and I couldn't be happier.

I don't currently have a picture of them wrapped in it (waiting for photos from the professional photographers) but I do have a picture of me and my brothers wrapped in it the day I presented it to Mike.
